Fr. Robert J. Fox, founder of the Fatima Family Apostolate decided to build an outdoor shrine for Mass and candlelight processions. With the help of local townspeople he erected the shrine on land that had been donated to him using royalties from his many books and articles.
The shrine features Our Lady of Fatima and areas dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart. Also angels adoring the Holy Eucharist, Saint Joseph and the Christ Child blessing the world as well as a Divine Mercy Shrine.
The shrine was dedicated on September 27 in the Marian Year of 1987.

The House of Mary Shrine began with three 50 foot crosses erected on November 22, 1971.
The shrine now has the Way of the Cross, statues, small shrines, the Living Waters, the Rosary Way, St. Joseph's Chapel and a bell tower.
A Marian Visitor's Center, with its gift shop and museum, is open weekends in the summer.
